In 2016, the company sold 4 million tons of coal from mines in the Central Appalachian (CAPP) and Northern Appalachian (NAPP) basins, and 41.1 million tons of steam coal from mines in CAPP, NAPP, and the Powder River Basin (PRB). To complement its coal mining operations, Alpha Metallurgical Resources also runs a trading and logistics business focused on marketing third-party coal to international markets.
