Vistra Energy is one of the largest electricity producers and retail energy suppliers in the United States. After acquiring Energy Harbor in 2024, Vistra owns 410 gigawatts of nuclear, coal, natural gas, and solar power generation, as well as one of the world's largest utility-scale battery projects. The company's retail electricity business serves 5 million customers in 20 states, including nearly one-third of Texas' electricity consumers. Vistra emerged from bankruptcy at Energy Future Holdings in 2016 as an independent entity and acquired Dynegy in 2018.
