BP is an integrated oil and gas company. Its operations are divided into three segments: Upstream, Downstream and Rosneft. The Upstream segment is engaged in oil and gas exploration, field development, and production; midstream focus on transportation, warehousing, and processing; and sales and trading of natural gas, including LNG, power, and LNG. It also owns and manages crude oil and natural gas pipelines; processing facilities and export terminals; and processing facilities and transportation of LNG, as well as NGL's extraction operations. The Downstream segment refines, produces, sells, transports, supplies and trades crude oil, petroleum and petrochemicals, and related services for wholesale and retail customers. It supplies lubricants and related products under the Castrol, BP and Aral Sea brands to the automotive, industrial, marine and energy markets; and petrochemicals such as terephthalic acid, paraxylene, acetic acid, olefins and their derivatives, specialty petrochemicals product. Rosneft is engaged in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the United States, Canada, Vietnam, Venezuela, Brazil, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates, Turkmenistan and Norway; and provides jet fuel, refueling, bitumen and lubricants. The company also produces bioethanol, sugar and biobutanol; delivers electricity to local grids; and transports hydrocarbon products through shipping and charter services. The company was founded in 1908 by William Knox Darcy and is headquartered in London, UK.
